Monitoring visitor numbers at Gartmorn Dam

Gartmorn Dam is an important place for the local community and even attracts visitors from further afield in the region. Understanding how many visitors use the different routes around the reservoir helps to keep them in good shape.

Infrared People Counters

  • Two devices (116x69x22 mm each) in black, weatherproof casing will be attached to wooden poles (cement set in ground, 100×100 mm diameter) either side of the path, max. 8m apart at a height of 1.25-1.4m
  • Bi-directional counting using two infrared beams – no privacy concerns as the only recordings being made are counts of breaks in the two beams (no video, sound recording or photography)
  • Battery powered; maintenance visits from our technical team required every 6 months.
